Samaipata has become a popular tourist destination, so you should take the precautions as you would anywhere – keep an eye on your belongings and don’t leave valuables lying around. If you’re getting a taxi, it’s better to use a radio taxi than an unregistered one. You can visit El Fuerte and Las Cascades de Cuervas alone, but to all other places it’s recommended to at least take a guide (make sure they’re registered) or go on a tour. To go to Parque Nacional Amboró, it’s compulsory to take a guide.
