Hostal Residencial Ambar offers cheap, comfortable accommodation within the first ‘ring’ in Santa Cruz. Each room is uniquely furnished in bright colours and has a solid wooden bed and a good mattress. Single rooms with shared bath start at $3.50, which is a bargain considering how well kept the rooms are. Be warned however, there is no fan in these rooms, so they will be unbearably hot in the summer. The rooms with private bath do have fans, and access to a hot water shower (not in your room though!). There’s a lounge with cable TV and kitchen access for $0.75.
