Parque El Arenal

Location:
Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia

City Park

By Daniel T. Johnson

A favorite among locals, this park surrounding a lagoon is a perfect place for lounging or taking a stroll. On an island in the middle of the lagoon there is a mural by Santa Cruz-born artist Carlo Lorgio Vaca, famous for his bas-relief murals and paintings that can be found throughout Bolivia. The park is also home to Santa Cruz’s Ethnographic Museum, with artifacts from the some of the many ethnic groups that inhabited the eastern part of Bolivia.
