Getting To and Away From Magdalena

The most popular overland transport is by camioneta from Trinidad (from near the Cipriano Barace monument), which takes about 10 hours. The dirt road is only passable in the dry season, between about July and mid-November. There will normally be regular mini-buses during this time as well, although you’ll be more comfortable in a 4x4 on this route. TAM (in Trinidad 3-462-2363) normally has a weekly flight from Trinidad and you may be able to arrange a spot on an avioneta (about $45 per person, planes take four/five people) from Trinidad as well – go to the airport and ask.
