To get around town, hop on a moto-taxi or hire your own on the corner of Avenida Nicolás Suárez and Avenida Gabriel René Moreno.
Overland
During the dry season, there are daily buses to Trinidad ($26) but don’t be in a hurry – the journey can take anything between 20 and 30 hours. Buses to GuayaramerĂn theoretically leave throughout the year ($2.50, 3 hours), but the road may not always be passable. There are shared taxis that also ply the route (2 hours). Buses from GuayaramerĂn stop in Riberalta on the way to Cobija, Rurrenabaque and La Paz, bus these services don’t normally run in the rainy season.
The bus station is east of the city centre, on Avenida Héroes del Chaco.
Air
The airport is situated to the south of town, about five blocks from the main plaza. Amaszonas (Calle Chuquisaca near Calle Sucre, Tel: 3-852-3933) and Aerocon (Tel: 3-855-5025) has several daily flights to GuayaramerĂn, Trinidad, Santa Cruz and La Paz, and regular services to Rurrenabaque and San Borja. TAM (Tel: 3-852-2646) normally have flights to GuayaramerĂn and other destinations.
Boat
Riberalta is linked to Rurrenabaque and beyond by the RĂo Beni, and you may be able to find room on a cargo boat on this route during the rainy season (6 to ten days). There are also boats that go to Puerto Maldonado in Peru along the RĂo Madre de Dios (8 to ten days). Ask at the Puerto CapitanĂa, north of town, for more details
