Things to see and do
The town of Rurrenabaque itself does not offer a huge amount of activities but it is a pleasant place for a changeover or to spend a little time relaxing after a jungle trek or trip to the Pampas. Travelers spending more time here have the option of doing horseback riding, cycling or hiking to the miradors, which offer stunning views of the surrounding area. It is also possible to visit some of the indigenous communities in the region.

Activity 1

To enjoy more of the beautiful scenery and meet some locals, visitors to Rurrenabaque can rent bikes ands cycle to the indigenous village of Carmen Soledad. You just need to inform the tourist office before you set off so that the inhabitants of the village can prepare for your arrival. It is fascinating to see the agricultural methods of the villagers as well as getting some exercise and doing some independent exploration.

Activity 2

It is also possible to walk to the village of Carmen Soledad. Other hiking routes include a 60-minute trek to the Suse Canyon, a 30-minute trek to the Mirador Cruz (where visitors can admire spectacular views of the area), and a 20-minute amble to the lovely Pozas Blancas. If you are more of a horseback rider than a hiker, visit the tourist office for details of how to find a guide.
