There are a wealth of activities available around Coroico’s subtropical foothills. You can go on a day hike to local waterfalls or communities, or embark on a multi-day trek in the region. The Parque Nacional Cotapata protects the Yungas cloud forest and Andean bear, and is easily accessible from Coroico. Explore the surrounding countryside on horseback or mountain bike, or get to know the rivers on rafting or kayaking trips.
For a bit of culture, visit the Afro-Bolivian community of Tocaña and learn about the Saya music and dance, or stay around in Coroico for a while and take some Spanish lessons – you won't find many places more tranquil. You can also volunteer at the nearby La Senda Verde animal refuge.
In the evenings, there’s pool at Monkey’s Bar, on the south corner of the plaza and a few booming discotecas at the weekend, including Rudy’s (Cel: 7307-4708) on Calle Pancheco and Tropicana (Cel: 7626-9929) on Calle Tomas Manning, below town.
