Every summer, among the cacti and thorny bushes, the Valle de la Concepción springs into life as a blanket of green blooms gradually cover the valley floor. The area is dominated by vineyards and bodegas, and when the grapes ripen the whole area becomes a hive of activity. In February/March there is a festival to celebrate the grape harvest, La Fiesta de la Vendimia. Local and international music groups come and perform, there’s an art and wine festival and a Reina de la Uva is elected.
The center of the area is the sleepy town of La Concepción, where there are a few places to eat and a couple of hotels. Trufis run from Tarija to the plaza in La Concepción on a regular basis and complete the 25 kilometer (15.5 mi) journey in little over 30 minutes. They leave from the corner of Calle Corrado and Calle General Bernardo Trigo, and the corner of Calle Corrado and Calle J. M. Sarahco.
Other neighborhoods in Tarija: Padcaya, San Lorenzo, Tomatitas And Coimata Falls, Around Tarija and Chaguaya.
