Cultural Tour
V!VA User‘s Description
One great way some travelers experience Carnival is to get in the thick of it by marching with the samba schools during the Sambodromo parade. Many of the schools allow a certain number of travelers to take part. Of course, they will charge you for your costume, which can run you a couple hundred dollars, but you will for sure have an unforgettable experience.
Most schools requires that you are in Rio a week or two before Carnival for rehearsals and fittings, however, not all have those requirements. Contacting the samba school directly is the best way to find out if there are any spaces left for you to participate. Also, if you won’t be able to catch the samba parade or are unable to participate, check out a rehearsal or ensaio and you’ll get more than a glimpse of what these samba schools have in store for Brazil´s largest Carnival event. Each school practices at different times, just give a call and ask about dates and times
