King George

A popular hostel with Israeli backpackers, the King George Hostel is located a few blocks from the famous Copacabana beach. A large sprawling house with shared dorms and bathrooms, a t.v. room, a computer room, free breakfast (including eggs, fruit, juice, bread, and cookies), and even small monkeys hanging out in the trees around the house, King George is a good option for budget travelers who´d like a centralized base in Rio. This is probably one of the cheapest accomodations in the city, so expect a packed house, and bring your Hebrew dictionary.

The helpful staff can organize tickets for Rio´s Carnaval, soccer games, or outings to sites around the city, and George, the hostel´s owner, owns several apartments in the city which are also possible to rent.

Rua Guimaraes Natal 12, near the "Arco-Verde" subway station.

Traveler Reviews of King George

Not bad

King George was the only hostel I could find with availability right before Rio´s Carnaval. While the place itself doesn´t have a particularly unique atmosphere, it´s in a good location and Rotem, Guy and George, (the staff) are all quite helpful.
