The Plaza de Armas is the gem of Curicó—it is without a doubt one of most spectacular central plazas in Chile with 60 Canary Island palm trees planted throughout the square, in addition to an immaculate fountain that disperses water into a small pond, and a green wrought-iron bandstand built in the mold of architecture more commonly found in New Orleans. The town is also within close proximity to several decent wineries, and is a short bus ride to Radal Siete Tazas and Lago Vichuquén.
Curicó has its fair share of reasonably priced accommodation with a variety of residencias easily found around town. Residencia Maipu offers a cheap bed near the bus terminal, while Residencia Rahue is another affordable option. Hotel Turismo offers an upscale stay for the businessman or gringo with money to burn—it has all the amenities needed and an on-site restaurant with WiFi. Quaint restaurants, ice cream shops and cafés are scattered about Curicó, so simply take your pick. Pollo asado is common throughout Chile, but La Guindaleera does it right for a low cost. Terruño Express has a decent coffee, while Al Café is worth the higher cost for a proper lunch or dinner.
