Getting Around Valparaíso

Valparaíso, like much of Chile, has very good regional transport (which includes readily available micros and colectivos that will take you to and from the bus station) to nearby Viña del Mar, and even up the cerros if you the elevators are closed and you don’t feel like walking. There are also designated colectivos for nearby towns inaccessible by bus (like Quintay), and buses run every thirty minutes to San Antonio, Isla Negra, and Cartagena. An above ground Metro system (with an underground section that goes through downtown Viña del Mar) also links Valparaíso with towns as far northeast as Limache, from which you can access La Campana National Park.
