Viña enjoys sunny summers and mild winters. The temperatures range from 22C (72F) to 10C (50F) so it’s possible to visit all year round.

The city swells with tourists during the summer season from December to February. The Festival Internacional de la Canción takes place in February. This festival attracts thousands of tourists, so if you don’t like crowds avoid Viña at this time.

The winter season, from June to August, is quiet and there are much fewer tourists. Hotel prices are also considerably lower in the winter but it does get pretty cold at night.

The best months to go are probably March and November, as the weather is still warm enough for the beach and the crowds are less stifling.

New Year’s Eve is a huge celebration in Viña, with thousands descending on the beach to drink champagne and watch the spectacular firework display.

Hotels get booked up early and prices triple, but Viña offers a truly memorable way to ring in the New Year.

Independence Day, on 18th September, is a national holiday and the biggest celebration of the year. Viña holds many ‘fondas’ or parties with traditional music and dance and lots of food and drink.
