Getting to and away
Most people will be arriving in Valparaíso from Santiago, which is located 112 km northwest of the capital. By bus, the trip takes about one and a half hours, and the main bus companies leave Santiago every 15 minutes from the terminal at metro station Universidad de Santiago. Try to get a direct bus if you can. Coming from Santiago by car, you’ll take Ruta 68. There are also roads that connect Valparaíso to the coastal towns of San Antonio, Laguna Verde, Quintay, Cartagena, and Isla Negra.
Buses leave Valparaíso several times daily for northern destinations, but as these leave less frequently than those to Santiago, you should stop by the station or call individual bus lines to get specific times.
