Travel Tips Types:
Climate, peak seasons
Though many towns in this region are very seasonal, Valparaíso is a functional port town year round—restaurants, cafes, and bars stay open through the winter, and many accommodation options have lower prices in the off-season. The weather in Valparaíso is moderate, though winter nights get chilly and most places don’t have central heating. Walking around the hills in winter can be enchanting, as you’ll have the twisting streets and stairways all to yourself. If you’re planning on heading to the beaches at nearby Viña del Mar, however, you’ll want to come in the summer months—January and February bring crowded beaches, but the weather is sunny and warm.
