Coyhaique has a variety of things to do while hanging out in town, like perusing the Museo Regional and touring the Dolbek brewery. Around town are several viewpoints (miradores) and monuments. If you want to stretch your legs a bit more, then head out to Reserva Nacional Coyhaique, Reserva Nacional Río Simpson or Monumento Natural Dos Lagunas for some hiking, trekking or mountain climbing. On the Simpson and Paloma Rivers, which have Class II-IV rapids, you can raft or kayak. Fishing in the region is also excellent. Even if you come in winter, you’ll still be able to enjoy the outdoors. In the nature reserves, you can cross-country ski or snowshoe. If you prefer downhill skiing, then spend the day at Centro de Ski el Fraile, 29 kilometers (17.5 mi) southeast of Coyhaique.
