Escuela de Guías de la Patagonia trains Ayseninos as guides in the outdoor tourism industry. The students receive a solid background in conservation, geology, biology and other sciences. Travelers to Coyhaique can hire a guide from the school, or, for an added dimension to their trip, take a course that teaches outdoor skills useful in this Patagonian environment. From October to April, Escuela de Guías offers three to five day classes on trekking, mountain climbing, fly fishing, kayaking, rock climbing, glacier trekking, cross country skiing and other activities. The school also offers a 7 day program in the cerro castillo area.
