Horseback riding (cabalgatas) is another way to delve into the countryside surrounding Futaleufú. Some favorite destinations are Laguna Espejo, Valle de los Reyes, Lago Espolón, Valle del Noroeste and Reserva Nacional Futaleufú. When Volcán Chaitén erupted, most horses were evacuated. Few guides are now offering this diversion, as the fine ash affects the horse and forage still is not good. One who is saddling up is Fabién Baeza of Rancho Las Ruedas (Carmona 337).
