Futaleufú has only a few luxury lodges. Most hostels are homier affairs of generally good quality. Many of the cheaper accommodations do not have locks on the door. Futaleufú has only a few luxury lodges. Most hostels are homier affairs of generally good quality. Many of the cheaper accommodations do not have locks on the door. With the relocation of Chaitén residents to Futaleufú, more hospedajes and camping sites are opening up.
If camping, be advised there is still quite a bit of ash on the ground; some campgrounds have been cleaned better than others. Campgrounds are open November-March. Los Coihues is on the Chaitén road, about 500 meters (quarter mile) from town, on the river ($8 per person; hot shower, free firewood, fire pits, electricity).
