Rafting and Kayaking - Kayaking - Chile

Chile is a great destination for whitewater sports, attracting enthusiasts from around the world. Whether you are interested in rafting or kayaking, Chile offers first-class spots.

Where to go?

Central region

There are some good rafting options around Santiago. The Caj贸n del Maipo is a popular destination. The course is full of obstacles and major class III and IV rapids. R铆o Claro located within the Radal Siete Tazas National Reserve and easily reachable from Curic贸 via Molina, also attracts whitewater experts from near and far, but more for its waterfalls than its rapids. The challenge is to raft down the waterfalls and live to tell the tale - no easy feat! For this reason, Rio Claro is reserved to the professional.

Southern region

There are many lagoons and lakes for kayaking in Southern Chile. R铆o B铆o B铆o is considered one of the world鈥檚 classic whitewater runs. With its steep canyons and deep class V rapids, it challenges even the best. Tours can be taken from Concepci贸n. Trancura River, located near Puc贸n, is a good place for both beginners and experts. With class III and IV rapids, the river produces great waves and is set amid beautiful scenery.

Northern Patagonia

In Northern Patagonia, R铆o Futaleuf煤 is an internationally renowned site. Winding between landscapes dominated by snow-dusted volcanoes and dense rainforest, it boasts one class IV-V rapid after the other. Tours can be taken from the nearby town of Chait茅n. Espolon River precedes the Futaleuf煤. Its warm turquoise water and numerous class II-III rapids make it an ideal kayak school and teaching river.

Southern Patagonia

Serrano River is located in the remote and beautiful Torres del Paine National Park. The swift but calm rapids only reach a class I, perfect both for the beginner and sightseer to take in the awesome scenery.

Packing List

Swimsuit, tennis shoes or sandals with secure ankle straps, T-shirt (quick-drying material is best), easy-dry shorts or running tights, safety strap if wearing glasses and waterproof cameras are all suggested. Don't forget a waterproof bag for anything you want to keep dry during your trip and a change of clothes for the trip back.
