Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Dinnersclub and American Express) are accepted in many restaurants, hotels, bars and tour agencies, especially in bigger towns and cities. However it’s always a good idea to ask first. You can pay by credit card in big department stores such as Falabella, Paris and Ripley but you will need your passport for ID. You can use ATMs to obtain a cash advance from credit cards but remember you will be charged a fee.
