Finding a doctor in Chile should not be an issue, as there are walk-in clinics and 24-hour services in most major cities. The quality is generally high in urban areas such as Santiago, though this may not be the case in more remote areas. Whether at a small local clinic or a larger office in the city, expect to pay for medical services in cash, regardless of your health or traveler’s insurance plan. This may mean keeping all the documentation from your visit and dealing with your insurance once you’re home.
Note that most medicines are available over-the-counter at pharmacies throughout the country. If your ailment isn’t severe, it may serve as a speedy solution to consult a pharmacist before heading to the doctor.
