Since there are different accommodation options on Rapa Nui, check what is included in your room rate when booking. Hotels tend to offer full board and guest houses only bed and breakfast. Others include laundry service. If you want a quieter vacation, avoid the center of Hanga Roa and aim for the north of the town.
If you’re considering camping, the campground at Anakena beach is the only permitted one on the island. You'll need to carry all the food and water you'll need as there are no shops outside of Hanga Roa. Some of the guest houses may allow you to set up your tent on their lawn in Hanga Roa for a fee.
