The only bank is Banco Estado which is open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., where you can change money or travelers checks.

The Rapa Nui tourism office can be found by walking towards the coast from the bank, on the right-hand corner with the coast road.

Rapa Nui has only one hospital catering for all the island’s medical needs. It is located in the eastern suburbs of Hanga Roa. There are pharmacies but if you are on medication, take it with you as it is very expensive to buy on the island.

Most hotels and guesthouses offer a laundry service.

You can send your postcards at the Correos de Chile (post office) located by the radio station and the municipal buildings, between the church and the quay.

Besides cybercafés, Internet is available in most hotels in Hanga Roa.

It’s important to remember that in general prices on the island are up to three times more expensive than they are on the mainland.
