Safety - Tourist Information. Pacific Islands - Chile

As it is such a small community, in addition to being fairly difficult to get to, the islands are all considered pretty safe. You shouldn't have issues with theft or violence, but still be on guard and practice sound travel habits. Always keep an eye on your belongings and don't carrying too much cash—or at least don't flash it around if you do have large amounts on you (remember no banks or ATMs on the island)!

Be most cautious while on self-guided hikes. Bring a map, plenty of water and let someone know (a friend, or perhaps your hostel owner) if you're taking off alone. It's simple to arrange a guided hike through a travel agency; consider this option if you are less experienced.
