Sailing & Trekking in the Darwin Mountain Range

Location:
Punta Arenas, Chile

Trekking, Boating

V!VA User‘s Description

On this exceptional sailing and trekking expedition we sailed, on the traces of the indigenous Yamana people (sea nomads), through narrow fiords and canals always surrounded by a glacial landscape.

During our trekking tours we explored the untouched mountains and their dramatic hanging glaciers. We also climbed an unknown peak in the breathtaking Darwin mountain range. Our yacht served us during the whole trip as a swimming base camp.

On our trekking tours we always camped in scenic places surrounded by subantarctic rainforest, jagged peaks, turquoise lagoons or gleaming glaciers. Also we visited a typical family-owned Patagonian estancia (ranch) which gave us a close up of the hard farming life. After our lamb barbecue we sat around the campfire, drank mate tea and enjoyed the gaucho atmosphere. The diversity of the fauna and flora that we found in these latitudes was simply incredible. We will never forget our very exclusive adventure tour through the remote and untouched Darwin mountain range on Tierra del Fuego, Chile.
