La Vega is one of Santiago’s biggest and oldest fruit and vegetable markets. It’s housed inside two huge warehouses: Grande and Pequeña. Head for Grande, since it has a bigger selection of food.
Here you’ll find the best fruit and vegetables in the city. The market is busy and crowded, so be careful with your wallet. There are also a number of cheap cafés inside. They aren’t pretty, but are definitely worth a try. You can eat a tasty traditional Chilean lunch for around $3. Metro to Puente Cal and Canto and across the river.
