This museum, specializing in pre-Columbian Chile, is one of the country’s best. Located in an elegant white building in the center of Santiago, the museum is a journey through time. It displays a range of ceramics, textiles, artwork, and eating and drinking vessels of the ancient inhabitants of Chile and Central and South America that date back some 4,500 years before the arrival of Columbus. Highlights include the Chinchorroc mummies and ceremonial tablets. The museum is closed on Mondays.
