Magallanes is the part of Southern Patagonia most tourists visit. The centrally located capital, Punta Arenas, is a convenient hub for getting to Puerto Natales and Parque Nacional Torres del Paine to the west, Parque Nacional Pali Aike and Seno Otway penguin colony to the north, the end of the continent at Cabo Froward and mythical Tierra del Fuego to the east. The north-bound Navimag ferry departs from Puerto Natales for Puerto Montt. Ships steaming to southern horizons, like Isla Navarino and Cabo de Hornos, leave from Punta Arenas. The Magallanes region is also reachable by land routes through Argentina.
