When to Go

Trekking in Torres del Paine National Park is what sets the tourist season for Puerto Natales. This and most other activities are mostly done within the six month season between November and late April. Trekking between November and January (early spring) is a great way to beat the crowd and see the fresh spring growth. February and March (summer) tend to be the best months in Patagonia in regards to weather. March through April (fall) allows for some cooler and more stable weather patterns. May brings cold temperatures and snowfall. Traveling through Patagonia during late or off-season is only recommended for the most seasoned and self-reliant trekkers. Patagonia in winter is not something to be underestimated! Torres del Paine winter night temperatures can be as low as -25C.
