Safety in Punta Arenas

Like any big city there is always a level of common sense involved while exploring a new town. Due to the international attention, business and tourism that Punta Arenas sees, any traveler can feel comfortable walking the downtown streets, even at night. Bars and night clubs welcome travelers with open arms. It's best not to wander far from the downtown area on foot at night, due to dimly lit and confusing streets. For help, call: police at 133, fire at 132, and ambulance at 131
