Tour operators are most common in Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas. Those in Puerto Natales focus mainly on adventure tourism, like trekking in Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, mountain climbing and kayaking. Many, though, add to their menu of expeditions Monumento Natural Cueva del Milodón, boat tours through the nearer fjords and to the glaciers of Parque Nacional Bernardo O’Higgins. The offering of excursions from Punta Arenas is more extensive due to its central location. The nature reserves Laguna Parrillar and Pali Aike are on the bill, as are wildlife expeditions to watch penguins, sea lions and dolphins at Pingüinera Seno Otway, Isla Magdalena and the Straits of Magellan. Operators also do tours of the city, Fuerte Bulnes, Faro San Isidro and Cabo Froward. Many agencies also arrange trips to the Puerto Natales sites as well. Excursions to Tierra del Fuego are available and best done from Punta Arenas than from Porvenir. Some guides specialize in treks into the Cordillera Darwin and other wild areas or fishing expeditions to the Land of Fire’s prime spots. Even cruises to Cabo de Hornos (Cape Horn) can be booked in the region’s capital city.
