Fuerte San Antonio, the last Spanish foothold in Chile, fell to local forces in 1826. The site could desperately use some explanatory plaques with historical context, since the area is little more than a manicured lawn and a row of cannons. Nonetheless, what’s left of the fort still makes for an interesting visit. The juxtaposition of the cannons with the sea and beyond will make a great picture. A small path above the main area will bring you to even better vantage points.
