Near the plaza, its faded yellow and purple-tipped spires dominating the Castro cityscape, Iglesia San Francisco will almost certainly be the first thing to catch your eye when you come in to town. Though not nearly as old as many of the island’s churches (it was built in 1906), this is still an architectural treat both outside and the interior (which was finished with bright wood). The perimeter is lined with models of Chiloé’s other, more traditional churches. Masses are held daily throughout the year, except on Mondays.
