Budget travelers take heart: you’ll be challenged to walk more than a few steps anywhere in Castro without seeing signs for a “hostal” or “hospedaje.” Even at the very low end, Castro hostels within walking distance of the main plaza can be snagged for $10. In Castro, hostels come standard with warm, comfortable beds and hot showers.
There’s also a solid array of mid- and high-range options, though be sure to shop around, as quality can vary widely in Castro. Guest house accommodations are also available. As in the rest of Chiloé, prices can climb 15 percent during the high season, but rates are often negotiable other times of the year.
