Conveniently located a half block from Castro’s bustling plaza, Hotel Esmeralda is what you would expect from a business-oriented hotel: a sterile atmosphere and lots of convenient amenities. The building’s loud pink exterior notwithstanding, the four-story Hotel Esmeralda is a sober, notably quiet place, and has little of the charm that likely brought you to Castro in the first place. The hotel does offer a host of services geared toward corporate and other mid- or high-end travelers, including a classy in-house restaurant, WiFi, parking, and a continental breakfast. Ask for a fourth-story room to get a view of downtown Castro.
