In a country already considered one of the safest in Latin America, Chiloé ranks at the top in terms of safety. Crime can happen anywhere, though the vast majority of travelers will be fine by taking minimal common-sense precautions. If anywhere on the island has a reputation among Chilotes for robberies, it’s Quellón, though the town is far from what any traveler would consider dangerous, (plus, there’s little to draw you there as a tourist in the first place).
