Getting To and Away From Parque Nacional Chiloé

Cucao, main entry point to the park, has four daily Expresos Interlagos buses to and from Castro—even on holidays and weekends. Buses leave Castro at 9 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., making the return trip at 10:45 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. The schedule is posted widely throughout the area, which is fortunate, since buses are the only way in or out of Cucao. One-way tickets cost $3; a round-trip fare is $5. Sporadic bus service is also available from Chonchi. Ancud is the departure point for the Chepu sector, with buses leaving daily at 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

You can also organize transportation, or kayaking, fishing and birdwatching excursions, through Chepu Adventures (Tel: 9-93792481, URL: www.chepuadventures.com).
