A mere two blocks from the bus terminal is a simple white house surrounded by a gated fence. You would only take it as someone’s home until you see the sign in the window: Hospedaje San Diego. The elderly couple who owns the place, Juana and Héctor, open the door of their abode to travelers. The rooms are all upstairs, in two wings off either end of a common sitting area with a wood stove. They are spacious and have the necessities, including a desk. Some get quite stuffy on a summer’s day, though, as their windows face the hall. Everything is clean, including the common baths.
