I went out for a 7 day ride into the Andes, which was probably the best experience of my vacation. First there was a preparation day, they showed us handling tack and we went out for a 4 hour ride. The next day we went of to the mountains.

Our group of 5 had 2 guides, Luis a Chilean "arriero" cowboy and Ale a Chilean lady and real cowgirl who spoke english(luis didn't). They took us around snowcaped volcanoes, huge rainforest trees and hotsprings in the forest. Two of the guys (Huw and Alley) later wrote a description of the ride which they show on the farms homepage, check it out.

All in all this experience was awesome. I liked every moment of it.

Getting There
They pick you up in town, with a private car you can go there by getting out of Pucón- heading towards Quelhue (signposted) - cross the bridge- turn right, go on for 4 km- there it is on the right hand, on the riverside.

Travel Tips: First of all: dont miss it, second: contact the guys direct which is cheaper than the agencies in town selling them.

You Need to Bring: Get yourself one of these awsome hats they sell in town, you need protection of the sun (and they look great).

To See and Do: I climbed Villarrica Volcano, which I liked, took some Spanish lessons at a language school (Language Pucon) some way conected with the farm (owners wife is teaching), great too, improved my Spanish a lot - maybe post about it separately.
