When to Go

Puerto Montt has a cool, humid climate. Annual temperatures average 10-13°C (50-55°F), with highest in January and February (20-21°C / 68-70°F) and coldest in July (10°C / 43°CF). Rainfall is high, 1200-3000 millimeters (47-118 inches) per year.

 

When the austral summer arrives, the port swarms with tourists heading for the Patagonia. Prices rise and lodging can be difficult to find.

 

Puerto Montt has a bevy of annual music festivals. Early in November is Festival de Jazz, in December comes the Electronic Music fest. The beginning of May is the Festival de la Canción Raíz Folklórica al Mar or the Sea Folk Song Festival.
