Getting around Types:
Getting around, Getting around, santa marta

By Shanie Matthews

A local blue minibus transit company, Thaebus, offers rides throughout town for around $1.40. The terminal is located at the main plaza, off San Fransisco and San José. There are buses to Puerto Montt, Frutillar and Puerto Octay leaving from the main plaza stop as well. Thaebus also travels to Ensenada (US$1.50) and Petrohué (US$3), leaving from the Galeria Real, on the corners of Del Salvador and San Pedro, or any other stops along the Del Salvador street. The bus schedule changes depending on the season, with a constant schedule of departures in the summer and a few during winter season. Check with the main tourist office for more information. There are also taxis available, though not as easily found as in big cities. Travel Sur (San Pedro 451) offers car rentals within the town.
