It’s pleasant to stroll through Temuco’s Plazas Pinto and Teodoro Schmidt and along the Avenida Balcemeda to see their various monuments. Another place worthy of a walk is Avenida Alemania, lined with mansions built by the German immigrants. A place to escape to untouched nature is Cerro Ñielol, where you can hike on one of several trails. The city has two important historical museums, the Museo Regional de la Araucanía and the Museo Nacional Ferroviario Pablo Neruda, as well as several art galleries. Anyone who has never had the chance to ride a steam engine train can do so here, on the Tren de la Araucanía.
