In a mansion built in 1924, the Museo Regional de la Araucanía teaches the complex and fascinating history and culture of this region. Exhibits of Mapuche culture, explanations of the wars between that indigenous nation and the Spanish-Chilean invaders, the eventual peace treaty that was signed and the effects of European immigration in the late 19th-early 20th centuries are all well documented. This museum is a must-visit for understanding the Araucanía and its people.
