During the warmer months of summer, campgrounds and cabañas seemingly bloom along country roads throughout the Lakes District. From November to March many come to enjoy the region’s attractions, and prices rise and lodges fill accordingly. At this time of year, reservations are recommended. In autumn, small town businesses board up for the coming winter. Only a few hostels remain open and most campgrounds close. In towns with skiing and other winter activities, winter is another high season, when costs will likewise be higher.
All types of lodging are available in the Lakes District. Even in out-of-the-way places, you’ll find exclusive lodges. For travelers on a shoestring, the best bet is camping. Backpacker hostels and hospedajes or family-run inns are also easy on the budget.
