There’s a small number of craft markets of varying degrees of size and quality scattered around the city. The largest market in town, La Recova, is near the Iglesia San Augustín in a two-story covered pavilion made up of restaurants, unremarkable artesanias and tourist information. Far smaller, but far more charming, are the few artists tents set up on the side of the Iglesia Catedral near the Plaza de Armas, which sell well-made handicrafts and artisan sweets. There is an interesting daytime junk market on Saturdays in the Plaza de Abastos that is packed with locals sifting through the piles of rubble for treasures.
