Getting Around: La Serena


Both La Serena and Coquimbo are fairly small cities. For the most part, you can get around either one of them entirely on foot. In La Serena, both the beach and the bus terminal are about 15-minute walks from the Plaza de Armas. You can also catch a colectivo to the Avenida del Mar and the ocean from the plaza or the bus terminal, if you’d prefer not to walk. To get between La Serena and neighboring Coquimbo, colectivos are available and you can catch a micro either from the bus terminals or flag one down on any of the main streets.
