Getting to and Away: Vicuña

By bus, the easiest way to get to Vicuña is either from the bus terminals at La Serena or Coquimbo. Bus companies like Sol del Elquí and Via Elquí leave frequently from both of these cities. By car from La Serena, take the international route Gabriela Mistral, CH-41. Continuing along this route past Vicuña will lead to San Juan, Argentina through the Agua Negra Mountain Pass. The trip from La Serena to Vicuña takes about an hour. To travel to the north of Chile or to get to Santiago, Valparaiso, and the southern regions, return to La Serena’s bus terminal.
