Museo Ferroviario de Arica is a must for train buffs—and for those who never had a chance to learn about rail works. The inside rooms of the museum displays items used by the Ferrocarril Arica-La Paz (FCALP) during the 82 years of its operation. Everything is here, from generations of adding machines to telephones, from forging tools to conductor caps. The open-air section on the patio has a 1906 Shunting locomotive, a crane and other implements. In a phone office in front is a private collection of railroad memorabilia on display. In the small park in front of the station is steam engine 3317, made by the German firm Esslingen, used from 1927 to 1967.
