Poblado Artesanal is a living and working artisan village on the south side of Arica. Founded in 1979, this brainchild of José Raúl Naranjo Menenses has white-washed huts with straw roofs. Painters, ceramicists (many using pre-Columbian designs), weavers and stone carvers all have workshops here where their creations may be purchased. Poblado Artesanal also has an amphitheater, exhibit hall, gardens and restaurant. The church is a reproduction of that found in Parinacota, a village in the heart of Parque Nacional Lauca.
